After the last reading and getting further into network sovereignty, there was a couple of sentences that stood out to me. One of which being "Different tribes use geographic information systems to keep track of wildlife, water quality, and land uses for tribal land management. Tribes create systems for protecting pottery, weavings, petroglyphs, sacred dances, and artworks and aligning tribal, federal, and state policies in this regard. Tribes utilize ICTs towards language revitalizations, including the above-mentioned radio stations, online learning modules, and digital story-telling tools" (Duarte, 48). I feel that this chapter specifically showcased details of culture sovereignty with connection to the internet because you are able to read further into what this all means. There is a need to conserve and protect who they are and their place so when it comes down to it, they have control over the legality in order to safeguard their culture. Regardless of them creating their own system, it should not keep them from having access to what everyone else does, especially with technology related things. It is so easy to move throughout life thinking you may not have a strong dependence on technology, mainly the internet, but everything depends on those connections. Which is what really should make you think about the huge disconnect between the tribes and the rest of the world.
